As an administrative body responsible for hundreds of government affairs, the Zhuzhou Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, Television and Sports holds meetings extremely frequently. To run its work meetings better and improve administrative efficiency, the bureau decided to upgrade the equipment of its existing conference rooms. Because some of the previous equipment had to remain in service and further upgrades were planned, the client was very cautious when choosing the new devices and went through repeated equipment tests and solution discussions.

The project involved two conference rooms. The first one is permanently installed and hosts the most important meetings, with the client's own technicians following up on its system tuning. The second room is reconfigured for different meeting needs, and with limited tuning staff available the client preferred this room to offer a higher degree of intelligent automation.
The flexibly used room was suited to wireless conference units: with a single intelligent mixer added, the room gains fully automatic, intelligent conference discussion. However, the room also keeps a number of wireless handheld microphones from the previous system, so the new receivers must offer enough frequency redundancy to coexist with the retained devices - which is why the client chose the UR-2Q with its wide 130 MHz bandwidth.
The final wireless discussion setup consists of two Relacart UR-2Q quad-channel true diversity wireless receivers with a 130 MHz bandwidth, and eight speech units built from UD-223 desk bases paired with GF-901 gooseneck microphones. The two UR-2Q receivers send the eight channels of wireless audio to a CONFER X 64-channel digital automatic mixer over the Dante protocol; the mixer's software sets a threshold on each channel, so the microphone opens automatically whenever a participant speaks - intelligent, automatic management of every conference microphone in the room.

The UR-2Q series concentrates the know-how Relacart has built up over the years: advanced four-channel synthesized tuning with a 130 MHz switching bandwidth (depending on the region), an elegant industrial design, a self-developed DSP audio expansion algorithm, Dante protocol output and a freely adjustable Magic EQ function. It is aimed at demanding clubs, multi-function presentation halls, hotels, conferences and small to mid-size live venues.

The UD-223 is a desk-type wireless gooseneck microphone base with a clean design: a sturdy metal body, a high-contrast OLED display, a built-in high-pass filter and a silent touch switch. The GF-901 gooseneck uses a locking three-pin balanced XLR connector that locks firmly onto the base to prevent faults caused by loosening or bad contact, an LED ring that shows the working status at a glance, and FI shielding technology that effectively suppresses external RF interference.

The CONFER X is Relacart's self-developed wired digital automatic mixer with 64 input channels and 16 output channels supporting the Dante protocol. Its 64-in/16-out analog and Dante digital hybrid matrix control suits a wide range of engineering projects, and by setting a noise-gate threshold for each microphone channel it opens the microphones automatically, achieving intelligent automatic management of the live microphones.
For the permanently installed room, the engineering contractor initially proposed a hand-in-hand conference system, but during testing it proved impossible to adjust a single microphone, and the sound in the room was disappointing. A console-mixing setup with single gooseneck microphones was considered next, yet the client found the large XLR output connector of ordinary goosenecks too bulky and unattractive. After a round of tests the client finally chose the Relacart TSG-550 desk gooseneck microphone, whose output uses a much smaller three-pin aviation connector.

Nine TSG-550 wired gooseneck microphones now feed the mixing console directly, and the console's built-in mixing function runs the same auto-open meeting mode. The TSG-550 is a desk-mounted wired gooseneck conference microphone powered over 48 V phantom power with strong compatibility. Its cardioid condenser capsule offers a wide frequency response and delivers clear, smooth, high-fidelity sound, while the threaded three-pin aviation socket keeps the connection firm, makes the microphone work more stably and effectively prevents noise caused by a loosening cable joint.
Combining the client's requirements with sensible equipment selection, the solution prepares the retained devices for smooth coexistence at both RF and system level, while the Dante protocol opens a clear path for future upgrades - adding further Dante devices to other rooms will extend the system without rewiring. Conference room renovation remains one of the hardest kinds of project, with numerous requirements and obstacles; Relacart has taken part in many such renovations and will keep sharing creative solutions and the lessons learned from them.
