A private security company was fitting out a new office and needed a conference room for 12 participants with video conferencing at its core. The room, however, was acoustically demanding: ceramic tile flooring and two glass walls reflect sound strongly, so speech capture had to be engineered with care. The Relacart CS-501 conference discussion system became the audio centerpiece of the solution.

Tile and glass fill a room with early reflections and make ordinary microphones pick up the space along with the speaker. The answer was a discussion system with narrow-directivity microphones: each participant works with a personal unit, and only the voice in front of the microphone enters the signal path, keeping reproduction clean even in a highly reflective room.

The table is equipped with a CS-501C chairman unit and CS-501D delegate units from the Relacart CS-501 wired conference discussion system. The shotgun-type microphone capsules have a narrow, sensitive pickup pattern: a delegate can lean fully back in the chair and still be captured clearly, while noise from elsewhere in the room stays out of the signal. The minimalist design of the units sits unobtrusively in the modern interior.

The discussion system works alongside a large 86-inch professional display, personal monitors at every seat, PTZ cameras with automatic framing and a seamless video matrix. Room control was deliberately kept simple: any employee can run a presentation, a video conference or a brainstorming session from a tablet interface, with no technical staff required.

The company received a ready-to-use conference room for 12 participants where speech is captured cleanly despite the challenging acoustics and where any staff member can operate the full complex unaided. For Relacart, the project underlines the value of narrow-directivity discussion microphones in acoustically difficult, design-conscious rooms.
