Due to performance limitations of the old meeting room equipment and poor audio pickup quality, the group introduced Relacart’s ACM-600 ceiling matrix microphone. Project Requirements Analysis
Audio Clarity and Consistency
The old system primarily used an omnidirectional microphone installed at the center of the conference table, supplemented by desktop microphones. However, inconsistent pickup was a recurring issue during use. The new system had to ensure clear and evenly transmitted human voice pickup.
Local and Remote Flexibility
The room is used for both local technical meetings and remote collaboration, requiring support for both local sound reinforcement and transmission to remote conferencing software. The client also wanted a system that is easy to operate, capable of automatic switching to accommodate different meeting types.
Challenging Acoustic Environment
The room measures 7.8m x 2.4m, typical for small to mid-sized meeting rooms. With glass windows and partitions on both sides, sound reflection creates reverb, and poor sealing allows noise interference. Thus, a microphone system with strong dereverberation and noise reduction capabilities was essential.
Solution
Considering the room size and application needs, the final system adopted the ACM-600 ceiling matrix microphone paired with the Confer X intelligent auto mixer. Each ACM-600 unit covers an area of 7.6m x 7.6m, so two microphones provide complete and clear voice pickup across the entire meeting room. Combined with the Confer X mixer, the system enables a smart conference room experience.

In a recent technical seminar held by the aviation group, participants engaged in multidirectional discussions around a long table. The ACM-600 precisely captured voices from all positions. Its unique intelligent dereverberation and dynamic feedback suppression technologies ensured stable, high-quality audio, providing an unmatched meeting experience.
The Confer X mixer supports multiple intelligent control modes. For local meetings, it can be set to voice-activated mode, allowing the closer ACM-600 unit to pick up the dominant voice signal and send it to local speakers. This helps prevent reverb or feedback issues from dual-microphone local sound reinforcement.
2. Remote Collaboration Meetings
For remote technical or collaborative meetings, the ACM-600’s full-duplex acoustic echo cancellation enhances voice signals while eliminating echo, ensuring clearer and more consistent remote audio pickup for smooth and effective communication.
Both the ACM-600 and Confer X support Dante audio networking protocol, allowing connection via standard Ethernet cables. With Dante Controller, connections can be configured easily with a few clicks. Even though the conference room required significant renovation, the system installation was completed within a single day, minimizing operational disruption.
Additionally, since the microphone is installed near the air conditioning vent, it's susceptible to noise interference. The ACM-600’s AI-powered omnidirectional noise cancellation effectively removes background noise without compromising voice quality, ensuring clear and natural conversations in any environment.
During remote meetings, the Confer X mixer can be set to full pickup mode, allowing both ACM-600 microphones to capture sound and send it to the computer’s conferencing software. The dedicated TDM software enables users to adjust frequencies, squelch values, equalization, and high/low-pass filters on PCs or iPads — even remotely — offering high-quality audio for remote meetings.
