Every wireless system has a hidden variable: the radio spectrum around it. Before a single microphone is switched on, the room may already be carrying television transmitters, DECT handsets, in-house Wi-Fi and whatever else the building has accumulated over the years. The U.Discover handheld spectrum management controller exists to make that invisible landscape visible - in the hand, on site, before the doors open.
The receiver section covers an ultra-wide 240 MHz to 960 MHz range, so the same instrument follows VHF television allocations, the UHF bands used by wireless microphones, and the higher ranges occupied by licensed services. Instead of guessing which band is clean, the engineer can look at the details of each frequency directly.
Real-time display - frequency data appears the moment the unit is powered on, so interference can be identified while the room is still being set up rather than after the first feedback howl.
Peak hold - the controller retains the highest interference value measured within a chosen period. Intermittent sources that only appear for a fraction of a second become visible, which makes it practical to compare bands and settle on a stable set of frequencies for the event.
The housing is only 7 cm wide and weighs 150 g, small enough to sit in a toolkit or a jacket pocket and be carried to the stage, the balcony or the roof. Alloy and polymer construction gives it resistance to knocks and a comfortable feel in the hand, which matters for a device that is used standing up, in the dark, at the back of a venue.
A high-definition colour TFT panel shows fine spectral detail, supports customisable frequency screens, and keeps parameters legible under working light. The goal is simple: the operator should understand the RF environment in seconds, not minutes.
A high-capacity lithium battery provides up to 10 hours of continuous operation, covering load-in, sound check, the performance and the after-show check without hunting for a charger. Recharging is through a standard 5 V USB Type-C interface.

The U.Discover brings together wideband detection, real-time and peak-hold analysis, a readable colour display and a genuinely portable body. For rental companies, integrators and venue technicians, it turns frequency planning from an exercise in experience and luck into a measurement that can be repeated, documented and trusted.
