Every year, on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar, people across China celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival — one of the country's most cherished traditional holidays. It falls in late September this year, on the night when the moon is at its roundest and brightest. In Chinese culture, the full moon stands for completeness and reunion, which is why families — and colleagues — come together on this day to admire the moonlight, share mooncakes and exchange good wishes. The festival traces its roots back more than 3,000 years to ancient moon-worship ceremonies and has been celebrated in its modern form since the Tang dynasty (618–907 AD). For many Chinese, it is second only to the Spring Festival as a moment to gather with the people who matter most.
To mark the occasion, the whole Relacart team set work aside for a day and headed to Lecai Garden · Xiaoxin Kitchen, a countryside venue surrounded by rice fields. On September 24, we spent a relaxed, warm and laughter-filled Mid-Autumn afternoon and evening among the gardens and under the moonlight — a day when we talked about nothing but being together.

From the moment we entered the grounds, everyone received a personal stamp card, launching a garden-wide challenge tour. Fun game stations were set up all around the venue, featuring traditional Mid-Autumn games such as touhu (pitch-pot, an ancient Chinese game of tossing arrows into a pot), along with team-coordination games that tested how well we know one another. Everyone moved at their own pace — stamps filled up one square at a time, and so did the fun.

Collecting all the stamps earned entries into the lucky draw. Round after round, the draw pushed the atmosphere to a crescendo — winners beamed as they hugged their prizes, and onlookers were generous with applause and cheers. The gifts were modest, but each one carried the company's thoughtfulness and best wishes. We hope everyone took a little of that luck home to share the sweetness of the festival with their families.

As the sunset turned the courtyard red, the evening banquet began. Round tables, good food and warm lamps — we sat together in the glow of easy conversation. No unread messages, no rushing. Just the clink of glasses and topics that would not run out. From everyday stories to the moon rising over the fields, all the warmth of the day dissolved into laughter.
Perhaps the true meaning of the Mid-Autumn Festival lies not in the rituals themselves, but in being together.
